Find the cause of the differences
We review opening balances, bank reconciliations, customer and supplier accounts, tax settings and imported transactions. The aim is to distinguish a missing record from a duplicate or a classification problem. Each requires a different correction.
Filed periods and prior accountant adjustments remain identifiable. A change that could affect an earlier return is flagged rather than silently treated as current-period activity. Supporting evidence stays connected to the correction.
A duplicated restaurant receipt
Imagine an illustrative Halifax restaurant importing a $2,850 processor settlement after already recording the related sales. If the deposit is entered as new revenue, the file overstates income. Matching it to the settlement and its fees resolves the banking record without creating a second sale.
Leave a workable file and a clear handoff
The cleanup package explains material corrections, unresolved questions and the process changes needed to prevent recurrence. Owner transfers, financing and taxes are separated from ordinary trading activity where the documents support that treatment.
We also review whether old 15% Nova Scotia HST settings have affected current transactions, while preserving valid historical treatment. Cleanup does not automatically file a tax adjustment or replace missing legal evidence. Any further filing or specialist work is identified with its own responsibility, so the owner knows what has been resolved and what remains.

Do you overwrite the old records?
We preserve the supporting history and make reviewed corrections through an appropriate process. The final package explains material changes.
Can cleanup include a previous tax year?
